After the fresh ... Wednesday Update. Wed 29th April, 2015

The river fell back quickly after Monday's 420 cumec fresh and was running at about 31 cumecs when I fished with Bevis Smyth from Queensland this afternoon.
With the color beginning to drop out as we crossed the swing bridge, it promised perfect nymphing conditions and the Tongariro didn't disappoint.
After a good fresh, the river is like an insect soup as the nymphs and caddis larvae dislodged from amongst the rocks on the river bed are carried downstream.
As they drift helplessly in the current they're an easy meal that trout won't pass up and if you can imitate this you're in for some great sport.
Bevis did just that... and look what happened.

The south westerly is forecast to pick up big time tonight and gradually ease through tomorrow.
Then a showery couple of days with an improving situation by the weekend.
Expect some excellent sport over the next few days ... its perfect guys, where are you?
Tight lines
