Tongariro River below Poutu Intake 2021 Recreational Releases :

Flows of 30 cubic metres per second for 6 hours will be released from Poutu Intake into the Tongariro River between 9am and 3pm on the following dates:

* Saturday 20th February 2021

* Saturday10th April 2021

* Saturday 25th September 2021

Many Tongariro fly fishermen enjoy nymphing, its the most popular method used on the river. But the anglers that consistently catch fish using the indicator and nymph all have one thing in common ... they've learned it pays to fish their flies deep ... particularly during the spawning runs.
